Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In your work with your therapist they’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
The difference is therapy is an opportunity to speak with someone who has professional skills and training, who safeguards your confidentiality. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you learn from yourself. Counseling provides a unique scenario where you can explore anything without judgement and with complete confidentiality.
Medication can be effective but it alone cannot solve all issues. Counseling works in tandem with medication, allowing you to delve into the root causes of your challenges and build on your strengths to achieve personal goals.
Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs.
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.

You will first be greeted by our office manager, Lizzie, who will help ensure we have all the required paperwork and information. She will also be able to help answer any payment/insurance questions. There is complimentary coffee, tea, and water for you while you wait for your therapist. You will then be greeted by your therapist and taken to their private office. Your therapist is trained to meet you wherever you are on your journey and will ask questions at a pace you are comfortable with to get to know you and discover what your goals are.
Monday to Friday: 8am – 5pm
We are closed on weekends.
